The first thing I would do when applying for this type of job, is to learn just what the job entails. What company or people will I possible be representing? Do they have a certain affiliation with any other people or companies or religion or anything of that nature? What products or ideas do they sell or market? If it is something that I would not quite understand, for example chemical engineering, I would need to try and learn and understand the processes and and the ideas and research them thoroughly.I would learn the jargon of the company as well, so not only would I know what they are talking about, they would realize that I am willing to learn and work hard for them.
I would also see if there was any recent products or ideas that have come from that company or if there was any news of them in the press.
After all of that, I would reevaluate my desire to work for said company, and if my skills were something that they could use.
